Class 1 noise measurement for Smart Cities

To detect and analyse short acoustic events: trains passing by, selective waste collection noise,...

Analyse and compare sensors in the noise sources and in the different receivers

More than 150 sensors deployed in Barcelona connected to Sentilo platform

Product insight

TA120 was born in 2014 following the advice of Barcelona City council. They needed a noise sensor with maximum accuracy to manage the noise abatement action plans of the city. CESVA was lucky to succeed facing the challenge: Providing our Sound Level Meter technology of IoT connectivity. In 2017 the TA120 Noise Sensor was launched into the smart cities market. Nowadays there are more than 150 TA120 noise sensors installed in the city of Barcelona connected to its Sentilo platform.

TA120 is a unique product; it is the only one noise sensor coming from the world of sound level meters and environmental acoustics. TA120 offers class 1 accuracy of measurement according IEC 61672 standard, wide dynamic range of measurement from 35 to 120 dBA over a temperature range from -10 to +50 °C and can be certified unit by unit.

CESVA, founded in 1969 in Barcelona, has been working to provide solutions to manage noise problems helping to protect the environment and improving people's quality of life. Its activity focuses on the design and manufacture of condenser microphones, sound level meters, acoustic limiters and noise sensors for noise monitoring in smart cities and noise management cloud platforms.

Use cases

Smart City Projects

Quick evaluation and follow up of the action plans to reduce noise pollution in the city. Saving money and improving People's quality of life. Noise data can be crosschecked in the city platform to arise smartness.

Quiet Areas

Declaration and preservation of quiet areas is a key point to asses and manage noise in agglomerations (public parks and gardens, near schools and hospitals) and in open country (natural parks, beaches and forests).

Public Works & Transportation

Public works, construction sites, demolition activities are an intrinsic part of modern and dynamic cities. Cities must control and follow-up the generated noise and check that operating timetables are fulfilled, particularly at night or weekends, when noise is a much greater inconvenience.

Leisure Activities

Most leisure activities involve high noise levels, which may be due to loud amplified music such as concerts or festivals or the levels generated by the actual activity, such as motorbike or car races or by the audience shouting, such as sport activities or fun fairs.
